The Elfrida Water Improvement District is a water utility located in Elfrida, Arizona. We have a committed staff that takes extreme pride in their work. The staff at Elfrida water make sure the Elfrida community can depend on their water service for local residents. We strive to make sure the community has clean drinking water. The staff looks after the wells to make sure they stay well maintained. The office staff makes sure that billing is accurate and sent out on time. We offer smiling faces and great customer service.
Around 1950, the water company’s name was Elfrida Water Domestic Users. In 2015 Elfrida Water became a special district renaming the water company to Elfrida Water Improvement District.  Currently, Elfrida Water Improvement District supplies water to approximately 249-meter connections, serving a population of 842 residents. Our district plays an important role in supporting everyday life, promoting growth in the Elfrida area.
Our Water System
The district operates the Gleeson well, Jefferson well, Park well
Elfrida Water Improvement District has received a donated well from Riverview, LLC. That is currently under construction and should be approved for service by November 2025. The district also was awarded a grant for updating our infrastructure. The park well will be under construction through November 2025 till December 2025. The Jefferson well will be under construction through December 2025 till January 2025.
Once these wells are updated, each well is anticipated to pump 220 Gallons per minute, therefore making sure that the community has a stable water source. Although the water source will be updated we still need to conserve water because of water depletion in the area.
Infrastructure Expansion & Improvements
Upcoming construction projects:
- Construction of a new bulk water fill station for locals to be able to use a debit or credit card to purchase water.
- Liquid chlorination system to automate the chlorination of our wells.
- A 230,000-gallon water storage tank to provide water for emergencies.
- Elfrida Water Improvement District has also purchased 16 acres at the corner of Highway 191 and Gleeson Road. With plans to construct a new office building.

The Elfrida Water Improvement District is governed by a five-member elected board that provides oversight, establishes policy, and ensures transparent management of district operations.
