Learn about Elfrida’s new Bulk Water Fill Station enhancing access, reliability, and convenience for local residents and haulers.

The Elfrida Water Improvement District (EWID) is excited to announce plans for a brand-new Bulk Water Fill Station, designed to expand our community’s access to safe, reliable water. This project is one of several infrastructure improvements currently underway as part of EWID’s long-term investment in the future of local water service.

While construction details are still being finalized, the new Bulk Water Fill Station facility is expected to become operational later this year. Once completed, the station will make it easier and more efficient for customers who rely on bulk water hauling to access the supply they need.

Why a Bulk Water Fill Station Matters

In rural communities like Elfrida, many residents and businesses depend on hauled water for their daily needs, whether for home use, livestock, construction, or agriculture. Until now, bulk water users have had limited options for convenient and efficient filling within the district.

The new Bulk Water Fill Station will:

  • Provide 24/7 access for authorized users through a secure, metered system
  • Improve efficiency by reducing wait times and increasing flow capacity
  • Enhance safety by consolidating bulk filling operations into a designated area
  • Support regional water reliability, especially during periods of high demand or emergency

By modernizing how bulk water is distributed, EWID is taking proactive steps to ensure the community’s growing needs are met in a sustainable and accessible way.

Part of a Larger Infrastructure Plan

The addition of this Bulk Water Fill Station is just one component of EWID’s broader infrastructure improvement initiative.

Other upgrades currently in progress include:

  • Development of two new wells funded by a Water Infrastructure Finance Authority (WIFA) loan
  • Installation of a 230,000-gallon emergency water storage tank to strengthen system reliability
  • Upgrades to treatment facilities, including a state-of-the-art liquid chlorination system
  • Expansion of operational capacity, supported by the district’s acquisition of 16 acres at the corner of Highway 191 and Gleeson Road for a future operations building

Together, these investments reflect the district’s ongoing commitment to transparency, reliability, and forward-thinking water management.

How the New Bulk Water Fill Station Will Work

The Bulk Water Fill Station will feature turn-key software and equipment that allow users to fill their tanks quickly and accurately. Using secure access controls, each authorized user will be able to:

  • Activate the system using a PIN or access card
  • Monitor water usage in real time
  • Receive digital receipts or usage summaries

This technology ensures that every gallon is accounted for, promoting fair usage and efficient recordkeeping for both customers and the district.

Expected Timeline

Although an exact completion date has not yet been confirmed, preliminary planning and site design are well underway. EWID anticipates breaking ground soon, with the goal of having the station ready for use before the end of the year.

Updates will be shared regularly on the Elfrida Water Improvement Disctrict Blog and through EWID’s email alert system at the top of the page.
